    For YEARS, I always used and trusted the original Battery Tender brand. Nothing is wrong with that, as it works. The Optimate was a game changer, as it has an extremely low .8 amperage out, which is gentler on the battery. It protects against sulfation, and actually analyzes the battery when connected and develops its own charging profile for THAT battery! I’m convinced that one could purchase a brand new battery, hook it up to the Optimate and leave it for 50 years untouched (OK, so that’s an exaggeration, but I still believe it’s possible), touch the starter button and that battery will flawlessly start the engine. This is truly an amazing product!

    The optimate charger/ tender has worked perfectly. Started the first time on May1 and it started like it had never set 6 months.

    Good things come in small packages. It doesn't just have a little green light that showing it on but has a small array of diagnostic lights showing the battery's cycle. Even though I live in sunny San Diego battery chargers do come in handy one or two times a year.
